- Collection, Processing and Use of Personal Data
Personal data is information about the personal and factual circumstances of a particular or identifiable person (§ 3 para. 1 of the German Federal Data Protection Act [BDSG]), thus allowing conclusions to be drawn about a person through data.
By installing Sparkd, we collect the following personal information:
Registration and Use
Sparkd cannot be used without registration. Upon registering, we collect the following data:
|We require your username so that we can set up and manage your user account. We, as well as other Sparkd users, use your username to get in contact with you.
|We collect and process your telephone number so that the other users of our service can communicate with you via our chat feature.
|We use the telephone number you provided to us to identify the country from which you use our service, in order to optimize the technical processes of Sparkd.
|Phone numbers from your address book
|The phone numbers from your address are collected and processed so you can get in contact with your Sparkd contacts. Your contact information, however, is not stored by the provider on an external server.
|Date of birth and gender
|We collect and process your date of birth date and gender in order to improve the proposed Sparks available to you in the Inspire area.
|The profile picture you provide is assigned to your user account and is visible to every user.
Other data that we collect in connection with using Sparkd includes:
|Files, such as e.g. audio, video or image files, if you decide you to share these.
|In order to transfer these files to other users. Content cannot be retrieved by third parties, but only by involved communication partners.
|Biography (provided that you create one)
|Your biography is collected and processed to display it to the group of persons you have specified. The profile image is included here too
|To show you how long your account is still active.
The user has the option to have his/her account or a Spark permanently deleted. To have this done, simply email us at firstname.lastname@example.org. If necessary, we may require proof of your identity before carrying out your request. This step is required to protect your data from manipulation or deletion by a third party.
Regardless of this, the personal data will first be deleted, when the knowledge of this data is no longer necessary for the fulfilment of the purpose pursued by processing data. Until then, the collected data shall remain on the server.
- Disclosure of Personal Data to Third Parties
We shall not share personal information without your express consent, unless we are legally obliged to publish data (information to prosecuting authorities and courts; information to public bodies that receive data by law, such as social security institutions, tax authorities, etc.) or where we must turn to third parties in order to enforce our professional duties of confidentiality.
III. Data Security
We implement technical and organizational measures to protect our systems against the loss, destruction, access, modification or distribution of your data by unauthorized persons. Despite checking regularly, complete protection against all risks is not possible.
In some places, Sparkd uses the industry-standard TLS (Transport Layer Security) for encryption purposes, thereby guaranteeing the confidentiality of your personal information on the Internet.
If we become aware of a security vulnerability, we shall try to notify you of such via the contact data provided to us or by making a publication on our website or another communication platform. Hereby, we shall also educate you on corresponding protective measures.

Likewise, you are entitled at any time to cancel consent once given with effect for the future.
